Today is children's day and it's beautiful for every child to be appreciated and shown love.

Take them out, spoil them, tell them how much you love them and pray for them.

Every parent is a caretaker and as such would give account of their children on the last day. The type of friends they keep, movies they are exposed to and gadgets they have tells a lot in their life's progress.

Responsibilities of parents include building and nurturing, caring and fending, helping and grooming them to discover their purpose and guiding them through their choices.

Teach your children the way of the Lord and instill confidence and discipline in them. Teach them respect, repercussions, love and support.

Teach both gender how to clean, cook and wash. Irrespective of gender, they must learn everything. Teach the boys how to respect their sisters and teach the girls how to be humble and content.

Finally, your children are not your investments. Yes, you suffered for them and all but don't become entitled. This happens for some parents who believe that a time will come when the kids would take over and do everything for them. So they keep reminding them daily of how much they ought to give,the kind of house they want them to buy etc.

I am not saying that children should not take care of their parents, they are to honor them and love them and care for them but not under duress or blackmail.

A good parent leaves an inheritance for his children's children. So this means that we must strive hard to leave something behind to make things easier for them as their caretakers.
